I don't know where else I should post this.

The new design looks absolutely superb I think, however I have found it nearly impossible to read anything. I admit that I am a fan of very simple white background and black text still. I prefer books that I can feel and smell to the Kindle I was given for Christmas LOL.

Also a request for help - I would love to be able to find out how to give my avatar an image but because I cannot read this dark gold text on the midnight brown background I have given up trying - for now Smile

I am sorry I have been so quiet - I have been working and then playing Oblivion to unwind bounce

Yeah, I understand your problem.  The main reason I added a theme was because many people say a forum needs a good look to attract members.   And this was the only one I really liked, because I didn't want a full black or multi-coloured "busy" theme.

With social media being so popular, ie FaceBook etc, forums are finding it harder to get new members, and it depends on what the forum is about as well, I guess.

I can certainly look for an alternative and I'll have to ask my friend to make another banner if I change the theme.    Another option is to make the text orange, but I think that would look like crap.

Just out of interest, can you read this forum?  It is very similar in colour and design.

Re the avatar...is the problem mainly because of the text colour or do you need to know other details.

Thank you for responding so quickly Smile  Judging by my current mental state I think that I need things explained in words of one syllable Razz  There are so many different ways of doing thing that I get very confused between different sites and BBCode keeps being changed, or some sites don't use it, or some don't allow links to Photobucket etc that I have given up trying to do avatars and signatures on most now.

I can read the DarkSouls site just, however I actually feel it is much to busy and fussy looking for me.  I work under the "KISS" system in practically everything I do.  I think it is one of the reasons I get customers coming back to me in my dressmaking business.  I have made prom dresses, bridesmaid's dresses and finally wedding dresses for 2 girls since they first came to me 12 years ago.  Also several of their friends have come to me as a result Smile *tries not to be smug and fails* Razz

The thing is I don't really want to change the theme unless someone else says they have trouble reading it.   It took ages to find one I like.

I do know what you mean about KISS and variations of state of mind, but I don't really think this theme is overdone and fiddly.    I'll think about it if I find something else.

About an avatar - You can use Photobucket or other image hosting site for an avatar, or upload one from your PC if you've saved an image.   The size needs to be no larger than 150x200 Pixels.

I think that everything looks very smart here, it is just that I am virtually blind in one eye and it makes some things more difficult to read. Most of the time I manage, however when I am tired, or have been doing embroidery all day I find focusing can be hard work LOL

Well, to be fair you didn't originally mention partial blindness and since I have depression issues also, I didn't find that to be a reason to change the theme.

Vision issues are a different matter.  I can look into accessibility options, but I know they involve CSS and HTML scripts so that won't happen soon.  Legibility issues 1225055169

If it helps in the meantime, when I post I can use this bigger sized text.

Another thing that helps me at times with sites that have very small text, or an image that can't be clicked to enlarge, for example, is to hold the CTL key and scroll with the mouse wheel to shrink or enlarge the page.

Thank you for the larger text ^_^ I have used CTRL plus scroll on nearly every site I use. I find that 125% seems to work quite well normally.

I nearly died of measles back in 1960 and that is when my right eye was damaged by the infection. I was fortunate in that I can see colour and light with that eye however I cannot even read the largest letter on a chart with it Razz
